  • River Trent Clean Up (UK)

is no need for more virgin plastic

 We are here to clean the oceans, river and waterways around the world as part of the international effort to stop the flow of plastic into our oceans.

It's simple, we work together and we clean 90% of the ocean rubbish by 2040 or do nothing and by weight in 2050 will be more plastic in the sea than fish.

How We Collect Our plastic

People

Cleaning the ocean, rivers, and coastlines

Almost 2 billion plastic bottles and tons of discarded fishing nets have been collected to date by our crews and supporters in seven different locations around the world. UK, Belgium, Bangladesh, USA, India, Brazil and Chile.

Tones of plastic debris are discarded each year across the world. They pollute lands, rivers, coasts, beaches and oceans. Ocean waste pollution has now reached such a magnitude that you can witness it simply by walking on any beach on the planet.
At Think Ocean we believe that each clean-up raises public awareness to the threat of marine litter in a very effective way. In various studies, volunteers say that participating in clean-up events makes them more mindful of how they dispose of their own waste.

River Debris Catchers (RDC)

A  Waterwheel Powered Rubbish Interceptor is our next big project. We plan to launch a pilot cleaner project early 2022.

Catching the debris would dramatically improve any river’s ecosystem and appearance.  Will educate school and community groups about how rubbish discarded affects not only local waterways but the oceans and the planet.

Our water powered debris catcher has a capacity to collect 50,000 pounds of debris per day

* 90% capture rate

* Uses renewable power sources

* Does not harm aquatic wildlife

* Provides an opportunity for educating the public about the problem of plastic pollution and in spires people to become part of the solution

High Seas Plastic Collectors

Having the right vessel is extremely important because each ecosystem is unique.

We identify areas of ocean plastic accumulation based on selection by project partners and analysis of recent news and studies.

We partner with the "Guardians of the Sea" - fishermen in the area.

Using a trawl that can be attached to regular fishing boats, fishermen can fish for ocean plastic on their idle fishing days, collecting between 2 and 8 tones of marine litter on each journey.

21 billion bottles collected with our partners around the globe.

Seven locations including Haiti, India, Bangladesh, Chile and Brazil.

More than 3.000 volunteers and crew members.
